The first ever Sotheby’s Auction in India was truly a revelation. The landmark auction titled ‘Boundless India’ marked Mumbai as the tenth sale location in the world. The grand series of events started with a preview at Bikaner House, New Delhi on 16th November followed by a preview at The Taj Mahal Palace,Mumbai on 27th November. The preview exhibition saw the whose who of Delhi and Mumbai coming to see the exquisite art works and looking for prospect pieces they would be bidding for. From art collectors, business tycoons, accomplished professionals and celebrities, the room was packed to the gills.
The final Auction day on 29th November saw some record breaking bids. The Tyeb Mehta fetched a whopping ₹20 Crore and Amrita Shergil ₹18.7 Crore
